When Jean and Steve Case founded Early Mountain Vineyards, it was out of the love they have for their home state, Virginia, and their belief that Virginia’s wine has the potential to compete with some of the best wine regions in the world. Their passion and the passion of the team of professionals they hired to make this a reality has guided all that they have done. They want to make the best wine the land and climate can produce. Early Mountain is uncompromising about offering the best selections of wine and food, the best setting, and the most memorable experiences. Early Mountain is a young winery but the wines are already showing extremely well! You will enjoy tasting them and learning about them with Steve and hopefully, it will inspire you to go and visit the unbelievably beautiful vineyards and tasting room not far away from us.
Roots is owned and led by husband and wife team, Chris and Hilary Berg. Chris is the Winemaker and will be here to present his wines to you in person. His wines include the flagship estate Pinot Noir, as well as several single vineyard-designate Pinot Noirs, sourced mostly from neighboring vineyards in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. Other wines include an estate Pinot Gris, Melon de Bourgogne, Viognier, Riesling, dessert Riesling, Syrah and a methode Champenoise sparkling named after their son, Theo. All these wines are made in small lots and handcrafted using indigenous yeasts.
In homage to one of Chris’ favorite artists, Roots’ second label, Klee (named after Paul Klee), makes up the largest portion of the case production with 2,000 cases made annually. The artwork is their own adaptation of a Klee painting.
Chris is one of the most talented Winemakers in Oregon. He is humble, gregarious and a bit of a renaissance man. We know you will enjoy meeting him and will adore his wines!
Jon Bruno – PortoVino Imports
New York & Italy
Jon will be joining us to share with you some of the fantastic wines that this small Italian importer sources. The wines that PortoVino finds in Italy and brings back to us here in the United States represent some of the most authentic and earnest winemaking found in a country full of amazing wines. Portofino looks for the wines that are classic examples of the regions and the soils that they come from. They are uniformly from viticulturists who have a light touch in the vineyard and winemakers with a light touch in the winery. Jon is tremendously excited to introduce you to these wines and the passion of his company, PortoVino.
Louis Cinelli – Vineyard of McLean
The Vineyard was founded in 2002 with the goal of making it easy to find the perfect bottle for any occasion. There are so many options in the world of wine and food that it often becomes a chore to sort through all the various selections that are on the shelves of large retail operations and chain stores. Many people merely fall back on the common wine “brands” when faced with these vast confusing caverns of wine and food. At The Vineyard, Louis Cinelli and his staff believe that it is important to sort out the fodder, be well connected to the best producers, and focus on products with great value.
